Victorian Poetry Slam

This year, celebrate Valentine's Day with a good, old-fashioned poetry slam, featuring classic works by Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and others on the subjects of love, temperance, sports and war. Local actors Craig Johnson, Laura Salveson and Ann Daly, dressed in 1890s evening wear, will perform these 19th-century treasures in the elegant drawing room of the Hill House. In addition to the scheduled program, audience members are invited to bring a favorite, short Victorian poem to recite. The one-hour reading will be followed by light refreshments and tours of the Hill House.
