Strumply Peter, a Toy Opera, is the latest original creation from Open Eye Figure Theatre, inspired by the cautionary poems 19th century German physician Heinrich Hoffman composed to entertain his children. These amusing poems of misbehaving children will be brought to life in a parade of puppetry perfect for the intimate scale of Open Eye's stage with toy theatre, Cantastoria (story songs), and larger than life characters accompanied by a miniature music hall band! The piece is designed for all-ages. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
Michael Sommers (Open Eye founder and Artist-in-Residence) continues his creative collaboration with Joseph Evans (script) and Eric Jensen (composer). A cast of actors/puppeteers includes Liz Schachterle, Tara Loeper and Noah Sommers Haas. In a surprise move, Sommers has cast Keith Lester in the role of the Mother. Lester is the recently retired school superintendent from Brooklyn Center.
