Big hair, big songs, and big romantic comedy will fill the stage as Main Street School of Performing Arts (MSSPA) performs the musical theater version of the movie The Wedding Singer in mid-February. Based on the 1998 film, which is set in the 1980s, the stage production features music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and is based on a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy.
“This is an ideal show for our students,” stated Robert Thompson, MSSPA Director of Outreach and Development. “It’s hugely entertaining, the music is great, and the production provides the perfect platform to showcase the wide range of our student talent. Singing, dancing, acting, live music; it’s all there. We promise a memorable evening for our guests."
Speaking of guests, no wedding would be complete without a reception. Each performance will feature a retro 80s-style wedding reception. Guests who purchase the “wedding package” upgrade will be treated to a champagne or non-alcoholic festive beverage, wedding cake, photos with the bride and groom, select seating on “Bride or Groom” side in the theater, and the chance to bid on wedding gift auction items to benefit MSSPA’s programs.
"Bring your friends! Bring your family! It will be a fun night out for anyone looking for a little levity during these long winter days,” said Thompson. “We’ll put a smile on your face and give you a photo for your scrapbook. You can’t lose!”
Tickets are $10 students | $20 adults. Wedding Package option: $20 students | $30 adults
