In honor of International Women’s Day, World Without Genocide and the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis will host a program to highlight instances of gender-based violence occurring both locally and globally.
Violence against women is a deeply-rooted problem that affects our society here in Minnesota and around the world. This event will explore both the causes and consequences of this problem.
Experts will discuss efforts at the Minnesota legislature to support victims and prosecute perpetrators, US support for the Convention to End all forms of Discrimination against Women, and the global movement to include more women in decision-making on peace and security issues. Speakers will include Safia Kahn Lovett, Program Manager, Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women; Dr. Ellen J. Kennedy, Executive Director, World Without Genocide; and Senator Sandy Pappas, President, Minnesota Senate.
The event is open to the public and no reservations are necessary. $10 general public, $5 students and seniors, free to Mitchell students. $35 2 Standard CLE credits, 2 clock hours for educators.
