Most 13-year-olds have so much on their minds that performing even the most basic tasks is a challenge. Not so for Felix Mendelssohn, who composed a masterpiece for choir, full orchestra and soloists in his first year as a teenager. The young composer was a die-hard fan of Bach, a virtuosic pianist and an out-and-out genius. Now Exultate Chamber Choir performs Mendelssohn's Magnificat, his brilliant, rarely performed early work. An a cappella performance of Paul Mealor's ethereal A Spotless Rose rounds out the group's exciting concert along with a brilliant selection of carols by the likes of Morten Lauridsen, John Rutter, David Cobb and others. Prepare for the holiday season with this powerful program from Exultate, one of the few choral ensembles in the nation with its own orchestra, and marvel at the great acoustics of Annunciation Catholic Church.
