Discover the rich but little-known cultural traditions of Russian Cossacks -- pioneers of the Russian Empire -- as the Belozer'e ensemble and the Russian Cultural Center "Russian Soul" present On the Edge of Empire: Russian Cossack Songs and Dances. Belozer'e, a folk ensemble from the Twin Cities, will present festive songs, dances, games, musical instruments and historical costume replicas, followed by a Q&A session. While steeped in Russian traditions, Cossack culture was further enriched with influences from neighboring peoples on the borderlands of the Russian empire. Belozer'e brings this unique mixture to life with a colorful program of song and dance.
