Miriam’s Words: The Personal Price of a Public Life is a first-person, real-time account of a life in the middle of the 20thcentury, by someone who was caught up in its political and social melee. The wife of a doctor and finally a 20-year Congressman, Dr. Walter Judd, Miriam was undaunted, and a masterful manager of the many worlds she inhabited.

The letters of her mother, Miriam Barber Judd, are brought together with context and edited by Mary Lou Judd Carpenter. Mary Lou will present the story of her mother’s fascinating life as told through her letters, and provide commentary on how life in this earlier era might inform us today. Refreshments and readings. Join us as we launch this volume, sure to be a wonderful addition to the world of belles lettres. Free and open to the public.
