Hello fellow Fringers I hope your first weekend of Fringe went well. Here are the reviews of shows I saw on August 4th.
To my son born 5 years from today:By The Peanut Butter Factory
Summary:
Every father has a secret sadness for his son. Every father wishes to go back to the time when he wasn't a father, back to when he was just a man, and put a message in a bottle for the man who will succeed him.
Now I have seen many one person shows in my lifetime. Some were really wonderful and creative and others tend to not to really get it right. This one was very creative. Now I know not many Fringe goers are really into the experimental genre. But it really seemed to fit the dialogue he was delivering. And the various speeches he delivered were very powerful. Also he was very sincere in his delivery and that what he was saying is what he truly believed.
Cocaine and Ethel Merman: The New Homo Guide:By Cone Man Running Productions
Summary:
Join us for an SNL-style comedy show! We'll give you love, laughter, dance and, well, raptors. We are pleased to have Sacajawea as our guest host this week on Average Joes!
One of the best shows I have seen today. Heartwarming and gives you an inside look on what its like on being a gay teen open about their sexuality in their community. You see a very personal side of the actor that makes you honored to see his show and hear his story. In fact I was surprised to see such a small audience when I was there. You definitely have to see this show.
Sacajawea and the average Joes: By T.F.L. Theatre Company

It was an okay sketch show but I felt like that their energy was not setting a good fast. In between the sketches there would be little solo acts. I just felt some of those would just make slower making it feel like it was dragging on instead of making a good fast pace. I did however like the flash mob ending I just wish they had that energy through the entire show. It would have made it more fun to watch.
The Final Act: By Tedious Brief Productions
Summary:
The greatest playwright of 1593 has been murdered, but there's more at work than a simple bar brawl. This Elizabethan noir thriller will finally reveal the truth behind the death of Christopher Marlowe.
An interesting take on Christopher Marlowe. When I saw that it was a noir set in the time renaissance time I knew I had to see it. The dialogue was great and written very well to keep with the time. The actors were wonderful ensemble of talent that really kept the show at a great energy. I loved the way it kept me guessing till the end. I would put this on your list of must see shows.
Ole Olson: Norwegian Boy Wonder: By Corcoran Park Players
Summary:
Ole Olson, Norwegian Boy Wonder, is smarter than anyone he knows (well, that's mostly his family so it doesn't take much), but then he meets Snively McNasty and all his evil sidekicks!
Its rare to see family shows in the fringe festival. So I make a point to at least see one each Fringe. It was cute to say the least. It also had some great Norwegian humor that I think a lot of families would like. It has everything that a family show needs plus a nice message at the end. For those who have children it would be a good choice to see.
